Columbus Energy Resources PLC (LON:CERP) has appointed Tony Hawkins as its chief executive with immediate effect.

“I remain committed to the company and with Tony responsible for the day to day operations, I can dedicate my time to growing the business in a manner consistent with our strategy roadmap,” said Koot in a release.

He said Hawkins "has been instrumental over the last two years in helping plan and then execute on the company's strategy", including the restructuring that led to the drilling of the Saffron well and broadening the asset base with the Steeldrum and Weg Naar Zee transactions.

Koot said the benefit of separating the role of chairman and CEO meant Hawkins would be "responsible for the day to day operations" and he could dedicate his time "to growing the business in a manner consistent with our strategy roadmap", which currently consisted of working at the Saffron well site in Trinidad.
