Horizon Minerals Ltd’s (ASX:HRZ) regional drilling has confirmed two new prospects at the Baden Powell and Windanya project areas in the heart of the Western Australian Goldfields.
The drilling program comprised 58 reverse circulation (RC) holes with two historical prospects, Baden Powell North and Capricorn, returning new gold mineralisation up to 6.56 g/t in an area of limited exploration.
Managing director Jon Price said: “The regional drilling program continues to deliver new and exciting results in areas where limited modern exploration has been conducted in the past.
“The Windanya and Baden Powell areas are now demonstrating the potential for new resources to be established within trucking distance from a centralised processing facility.
“We look forward to the next round of drilling to further test the extent of mineralisation and infill drilling to improve geological confidence.”
Results
At Capricorn prospect, follow-up drilling was conducted on a 40-metre spacing along 360 metres of strike length with results including:
- 12 metres at 3.62 g/t from 28 metres including 1 metre at 24.0 g/t from 32 metres;
- 5 metres at 6.56 g/t from 43 metres including 1 metre at 21.60 g/t from 46 metres;
- 5 metres at 6.15 g/t from 66 metres including 1 metre at 26.20 g/t from 66 metres; and
- 10 metres at 1.97 g/t from 65 metres.
At Baden Powell North prospect, workings and adjacent areas up to 600 metres NNW of the historical open pit area were tested.
Significant results include:
- 8 metres at 2.79 g/t from 76 metres;
- 5 metres at 2.67 g/t from 12 metres; and
- 3 metres at 5.73 g/t from 18 metres.
At Baden Powell mine area, infill drilling was conducted with the aim of converting the established mineralisation to a JORC-compliant resource.
Better results include:
- 6 metres at 1.82 g/t from 54 metres; and
- 5 metres at 1.61 g/t from 56 metres and 2 metres at 1.10 g/t from 70 metres.
Windyana exploration drilling
In addition to the drilling, the company has also been actively exploring the entire Windanya tenement group having taken more than 200 soil samples and rock chips in 2019.
Several anomalies coincident with interpreted structures were generated and remain to be tested.
Plan of Work documents for 2020 drill programs have been submitted.
Further steps
No further exploration drilling is scheduled this year with Horizon currently focused on 18,000 metres of grade control drilling at Boorara prospect.
Planning for the 2020 regional exploration campaign has begun with priority drill targets including Baden Powell North, Black Flag, Honeyeater and Darter.
Target generation studies on the Yarmany and Lakewood prospects are progressing and new prospects are expected to emerge across all project areas in 2020.
