Aurion Resources Ltd (CVE:AU) reported Monday more good gold drilling results from its Aamurusko Northwest (NW) prospect on its Risti project in northern Finland.
So far, 24 out of 27 holes, or 89%, have hit gold mineralization and 12 of those have intersected a grade of 15 grams per ton (g/t) of the yellow metal or higher, the Canada-based firm said in a statement.
"We are very pleased with our continued success at Aamurusko NW," said Mike Basha, the president and CEO at the company.
Continuity of high grade
"Drilling has demonstrated continuity of the high-grade mineralized zones and intersecting quartz veins in excess of 5 m wide speaks to the robust nature and potential of this gold bearing system. We have only scratched the surface of this target but believe we have defined a significant zone of mineralization. We have since moved the drill rig to Aamurusko Main, where we expect to have similar success."
Highlights of assays reported today included 23.41 grams per ton (g/t) gold over 11.10 metres, which included an intersection of 51.95 g/t of the precious metal over 4.15 m, which included 202g/t gold over 0.50 m. Previous assays this year from the prospect have included 13.31 g/t gold over 19.54 m.
Wide zones of disseminated and stringer mineralization accompany quartz veins up to 5.45 m wide, also noted Aurion, whose exploration program is fully funded through 2020.
Gold mineralization has been intersected in multiple rock types starting at surface to a depth of 180 m depth, the firm added.
Mineralization remains open along strike and at depth at both Aamurusko Main and NW, while the 600 m distance between Main and NW, and to the east of Main, where numerous high-grade boulders have been discovered, has been virtually untested.
Shares ticked up 1.89% in Toronto to stand at C$1.62 each.
