Symphony Environmental Technologies PLC (LON:SYM) has named Nicolas Clavel as its interim non-executive chairman replacing Nirj Deva who has stepped down to focus on his other global commercial interests.
In a statement, the biodegradable plastic technology firm said Clavel will take the interim role until a new appointment is made.

Symphony's chief executive, Michael Laurier said the company hopes to appoint “a new individual to provide fresh impetus at this exciting time with more governments legislating against the manufacture of non-biodegradable plastics".
The group noted that Deva has resigned after 18 years as a director to allow him to concentrate commercially on his "extensive global connections", now permitted following the end of his tenure as a member of the European Parliament in July.
However, the company said Deva has agreed to continue as a special ambassador for the company. In this role, the firm added, he will focus on "his many high-level connections and seek to unlock and create additional revenues for Symphony".
