Dunnedin Ventures Inc (CVE:DVI) is kicking off a new drill program at its MPD project in British Columbia to test two zones that previously revealed significant gold and copper mineralization.
The Vancouver-based junior is planning to drill 1,500 metres at the Prime Zone and the Man Zone, where historic exploration uncovered high gold values on the property.
Previous drilling at Prime in 2013 returned results of 24.6 metres of 0.3% copper and 0.07 grams per ton (g/t) gold and 12 metres of 0.3% copper and 0.07 g/t gold nearly 450 metres apart.

The MPD project has the potential to host a significant gold-rich copper discovery, Dunnedin’s chairman Chris Taylor told investors. Gold values are “unusually strong” for the district, according to Taylor, and recent surface results from Man returned promising copper values with long mineralized intervals in historic core, indicating potential for a deep porphory discovery.
“At MPD we are fortunate as the last round of historic drilling in 2013 ended on a high note and generated very promising results which we will now follow up for the first time,” Dunnedin CEO Claudia Tornquist said in a statement.
Dunnedin’s work at the project to date has identified multiple further untested geochemical anomalies across the property, Tornquist told shareholders.
Sampling results promising
Since the beginning of the year, Dunnedin collected 93 rock chip samples in historic trenches at Man that returned results of nearly 0.9% copper and 0.04 g/t gold over 46 metres, including 1.8% copper and 0.08 g/t gold over 12 metres.
The company also found high copper and gold values in grab samples at the Dillard Zone and copper-gold mineralization at Prime. In addition, soil sampling at Man identified multiple new copper-gold targets nearly 550 metres southeast of the Zone.
“As we kick-off our first drill campaign at MPD, we look forward to unlocking the value of this consolidated land package with ten square kilometers of multi-zoned mineralization," Tornquist said.
The explorer also told investors that it received its exploration permit that allows up to 18 drill pads and up to 10 mechanical trenching sites in 2019 and 2020. Phase 1 drilling will include several of these drill sites, with the remaining drilling operations extending into 2020, the company said.
MPD sits approximately 40 kilometres southeast from Merritt, British Columbia and is accessible year-round via paved highway.
