Emmerson Resources to drill 1,000-metre diamond hole at copper porphyry target

This upcoming program follows a recently completed RC program at Whatling Hill with assays expected in November.

Emmerson Resources Ltd (ASX:ERM) plans to commence a drill program in November at its Whatling Hill Project in New South Wales.

A 1,500-metre reverse circulation (RC) and diamond program will target the interpreted porphyry copper-gold system at Whatling Hill.

Notably the diamond hole will be drilled down to 1,000 metres depth to test for a deeper high-grade porphyry core.

Deep hole to commence mid-November

Emmerson’s managing director Rob Bills said: “The second phase of drilling at Whatling Hill has assisted in providing vectors to where the core of this copper-gold porphyry system likely resides.

"Our science-based systematic approach utilising cutting edge techniques coupled with traditional exploration methodology has further narrowed the search area.

“The first deep drill diamond hole testing one of these deep target zones will commence in mid-November with results expected in December 2019.”

Previous drilling points to targeting at depth

Five holes for 1,000 metres have recently tested a range of targets at Whatling Hill to date.

Whilst economic intersections of copper or gold are not anticipated in assays expected in late November, drill holes WHCR006 and 007 provided clear visual indications that the core of the copper-gold system is proximal and likely at depth.

This is further confirmed by previously revealed diamond drill hole WHDD002, which intersected 8 metres at 0.4% copper from 194 metres, including 1-metre at 1.4% copper.

Emmerson is both a gold producer and gold and base metals explorer and holds 2,600 square kilometres of ground near Tenant Creek, NT and 2,400 square kilometres near Fifield, NSW.
