Angling Direct PLC (LON:ANG) has opened its thirty-second store on Saturday and says more openings are planned in the coming months.
The fishing tackle retailer said that its 5,500 sq ft new store in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, is located in a “hugely popular fishing area” nearby the river Don.
Situated just off Rotherham Road in a trade park with easy motorway access, it is “the only fishing tackle 'destination store'” in the area.
The company added that it will take on five full and two part-time employees.
Angling Direct's chief executive, Darren Bailey said the company is “very excited” to have opened a store in Rotherham as the region is “known for its strong fishing heritage and has an extensive angling community”.
Bailey mentioned that there are “several other stores opening over the next few months” in well-populated angling areas.
Angling Direct also announced last week that it had taken on two stores in Leeds and Farlows Lake from the acquisition of rival fishing retailer Erics Angling Centre, although it will merge the latter store with its own nearby site in Leeds.
The retailer went from strength to strength in the first half of the year, with revenues rising by a fifth as new stores chipped in, customers spent more and online sales grew strongly.
