Gfinity to produce F1 Esports reality show

The F1 Esports Pro Series will feature ten teams competing in twelve races over four live events for a prize pot of US$500,000

Gfinity PLC (LON:GFIN) has won a contract to produce an online reality TV series for Formula 1’s upcoming esports racing tournament.

The AIM-listed esports company will create four 10-minute episodes of the show 'Making an Esports Champion', that will be aired ahead of each F1 Esports Pro Series live event.

The episodes will be aired on F1 Esports.com, Twitch and YouTube, spotlighting the back-stories of the drivers racing in the tournament, which will involve ten teams competing in twelve races over four live events for a prize pot of US$500,000.

Gfinity’s executive chairman Garry Cook said that being selected to produce the show “highlights Gfinity's unique position at the centre of the rapidly growing gaming community”.

“Our production team's expertise in creating 'reason to care' content is unparalleled," Cook said.

Gfinity has also recently been reappointed by the Premier League to operate the second season of its ePremier League esports football tournament, and struck a deal with game developer Codemasters to help promote its new racing game GRID.

Shares rose 5.2% to 3.84p in Monday morning trading.
