Audioboom trumpets key podcast renewals as revenues surge

In the first half of the year, Audioboom reported a 171% revenue rise but continued underlying losses

Audioboom Group PLC (LON:BOOM) is in the “strongest position” since the podcast company’s founding a decade ago as new additions and renewals drive profits up.

With new studios opened in New York City in July, the company said it has a “strong development pipeline” of titles to be launched over the next six months.

In the third quarter, “key” renewals included “No Such Thing as a Fish”, produced by researchers behind BBC Two panel game QI, and "The Totally Football Show" with TV presenter James Richardson.

Audioboom’s originals in the period featured parenting programmes "Never Thought I'd Say This" hosted by Jodie Sweetin, starring in Netflix's Fuller House, and "After The Whistle" hosted by ex-England rugby player Lewis Moody.

The AIM-listed firm recorded quarterly revenue of US$5.7mln, up 86% year-on-year, with cash in the bank up to US$2.5mln from US$1.6mln a year ago.

In the first half of the year, Audioboom reported a 171% revenue rise but continued underlying losses.

Interim chief executive Stuart Last, who was appointed when CEO Rob Proctor stepped down suddenly last week, said new shows “made a significant impact”.

Shares were down 3.64% to 173.45p in mid-morning.
