Metminco spins diamond drill bit at Chuscal gold target

Metminco is exploring for a multi-million ounce discovery within its Quinchia Gold Project and Chuscal is an at-surface 900x530-metre gold anomaly.

Metminco Ltd (ASX:MNC) has commenced diamond drilling at its Chuscal Prospect within its Quinchia Gold Project in Colombia.

The Chuscal prospect is defined by soil and rock chip geochemistry and located 1.7 kilometres south of the proposed processing plant for the Miraflores deposit.

The more advanced Miraflores gold deposit has a resource of 877,000 ounces grading 2.80 g/t gold and an Ore Reserve of 457,000 ounces gold grading 3.29 g/t.

Metminco has identified targets such as Chuscal nearby to Miraflores that could host potential complementary deposits to develop alongside Miraflores.

Drilling to start with three holes

The two-phase, 2,400-metre diamond drilling program will comprise three initial holes with an additional four holes to be drilled in the second phase using the data collected from the first three holes.

The holes will have an average depth of 300-400 metres and the first hole will be investigating the Guayacanes diorite rock which consists of gold-bearing veins within a mineralised diorite porphyry.
