Bushveld hires new finance director as it enters "next stage of growth"

The vanadium producer said Chikanza “joins at a very important time in the company's evolution" as it clinches US$68mln Vanchem deal

Bushveld Minerals Limited (LON:BMN) has appointed Tanyaradzwa Chikanza as finance director while it finalises its US$68mln Vanchem acquisition.

The South Africa-based vanadium producer said that Chikanza joins today after nine years at platinum miner Lonmin Plc where her last job was head of strategy and IR.

A chartered accountant, Chikanza spearheaded Lonmin’s US$1.4bn refinancing and oversaw its recent acquisition by Sibanye-Stillwater.

Before Lonmin, Chikanza worked at Smith's Corporate Advisory in London and at JP Morgan Cazenove.

Bushveld is expected to complete the Vanchem acquisition by 31 October once final sign-off comes through from the South African Reserve Bank having recently gained approval from the South African competition watchdog.

Bushveld’s chief executive Fortune Mojapelo said Chikanza “joins at a very important time in the company's evolution and will play a significant role as we enter the next stage of growth and development.”

The chief executive also noted that Chikanza has “a deep understanding of the South African mining industry” and has “experience in engaging debt and equity investors”.

Shares in Bushveld were flat at 20.75p in early trading on Tuesday morning.
