A first contribution from Cheshire-based CCP group boosted interim revenues at quarry and concrete products group SigmaRoc Group PLC (LON:SRC).
Sigmaroc acquired CCP in January and expects its contribution to improve over the rest of the year as the full benefits of restructuring show through.
Substantial work has been undertaken to improve the operational performance but more needs to be done on accounting and credit control, it said.
Elsewhere, Jersey was again the stronger of its Channel Islands businesses with several new projects also scheduled for the second half.
Specials projects arm Poundfield enjoyed a record July and August on the back of demand for flooring and retaining walls and a substantial sea defences contract.
Revenues in the half-year to June rose by 50% to £29.8 million, with underlying profits [EBITDA] 19% higher at £5.7mln. Pre-profits dropped to £1.42mln (£2.15mln) after a sharp rise in one-off costs.
Max Vermorken, the chief executive, said: “We are very pleased with the progress made to date.
"From winning the BAA quarry of the year award, supplying major sea defence projects and continuously improving the businesses we have acquired."
The second half should see us deliver more from our existing business and enter new markets with significant potential for the group.”
