Gfinity hails rising engagement with gamer community as it looks to develop revenue streams

The esports broadcasting group said it was launching exclusive content in October as well as multi-language media to drive engagement with video game players

Gfinity PLC (LON:GFIN) has hailed a rise in engagement with its community of gamers and esports watchers as part of a drive to create “significant new and recurring revenue streams”.

The esports media group said since April its gaming site subsidiary RealSport101.com had reported a 42% increase in visitors, reaching 150,000 gamers every day with more than 2.5mln people regularly engaging via its Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Gfinityesports.com, its own esports news site, had attracted 1mln viewers for the first time in September, while Gfinity added that it was launching exclusive content in October to attract more visitors as well as releasing content in different languages to drive engagement and additional revenue streams.

The company anticipated that these new scalable streams will account for around 10% of total revenues by 2021.

"We started the year with the goal of creating a Media Distribution Channel that we could monetise. This has now happened”, said John Clarke, Gfinity’s global brand and marcomms officer.

“There has been a surge of gamers engaging with and returning to our web and social channels, driving significant new and recurring revenue opportunities for the Group", he added.

In lunchtime trading on Monday, Gfinity's shares were steady at 4p.
