Rimfire Pacific Mining begins drilling program at Fifield exploration licences

Drilling results from the program could have a significant impact on options for the monetisation of Sorpresa.

Rimfire Pacific Mining NL (ASX:RIM) has commenced drilling at the Northern Gold prospect within its Fifield exploration licences in central NSW.

The reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Northern Gold prospect, which is 2 kilometres north of the Sorpresa project, is designed to test the bedrock beneath a +400-metres long x 80 metres wide zone of historical mine pits.

The results at Northern Gold program could have a significant impact on options for the monetisation of Sorpresa.

Rimfire will also drill at the Northern and Southern Area prospects as part of the current program.

Potential new gold zone at Sorpresa

Rimfire managing director Craig Riley said: “The commencement of this drilling program with initial RC drill testing of the Northern Gold Prospect represents a significant milestone as it will be the first bedrock drill test of this extensive 400 metre strike length zone of historical gold mineralisation.

“The results of this work have the potential to represent a new zone of gold mineralisation in the Sorpresa area at Fifield.”

The aircore drilling at the Northern and Southern Area prospects is designed to obtain regional bedrock lithological, geochemical and alteration samples from the highly prospective Northern (40 square kilometres) and Southern (100 square kilometres ) areas where there is potential for a significant size (> 1 million ounces gold +/- 1 million tonnes copper) discovery.

The results from this drilling campaign will gradually become available towards the end of October 2019.
