Kodal Minerals PLC (LON:KOD) said an environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) for its Bougouni lithium project in southern Mali is progressing as planned.
The AIM-listed mineral explorer said it had held a formal meeting on Wednesday with the government body responsible for environmental matters in Mali, the Direction Nationale De L'Assainissement et du Contrôle des Pollutions et des Nuisances (DNACPN), to answer questions and comments on the report.

Following the feedback from the DNACPN, Kodal said it had submitted an addendum to the ESIA to address concerns raised by the government, although it stressed that these were “minor” and that the addendum was expected to be completed within a short period, following which the full ESIA would be submitted for approval.
Bernard Aylward, Kodal’s chief executive, said overall the ESIA application was “progressing well and as planned” and that an amended version incorporating the government’s comments would be presented “as soon as practicable”.
Kodal expects that the ESIA will be approved “within the legislated timeframe”.
