Bluejay Mining PLC (LON:JAY) has lodged its application to mine the Dundas ilmenite project in Greenland.
The Exploitation Licence covers the onshore portion of Dundas, which is estimated to produce annualised production of 440,000tpa.
Currently, the defined mineral resource at Dundas stands at 117Mt at 6.1% ilmenite.
There is also a maiden offshore exploration target of between 300Mt and 530Mt of ilmenite at an average expected grade range of 0.4 to 4.8%.
Once the application is deemed compliant and receives sign off from the Ministry of Mines, Bluejay will make the environmental and social impact assessments available for public scrutiny.
A ‘white-book’ will then be created based on the public feedback with a decision on whether to grant the licence to be made after that.
Bluejay did not give a timeline for the licence application.
Roderick McIllree, chief executive, said: "Thanks to the extensive studies we have undertaken, the favourable Project economics and the support from our operational partners, we are confident of achieving the grant of an Exploitation Licence."
