Yandal Resources begins drilling at the Gordons Gold Project in WA

The company has a portfolio of advanced gold exploration projects in the highly prospective Yandal and Norseman-Wiluna greenstone belts of WA.

Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has started drilling at the Gordons Gold Project in the Kalgoorlie-Boulder region of WA.

A 27-hole combination of aircore (AC) and reverse circulation (RC) drilling totalling 1,800 metres is planned to test for extensions to primary gold mineralisation intersected in earlier programs and provide first pass exploration over priority sub-audio magnetic (SAM) geophysical targets.

Gordons Dam gold prospect lithology interpretation

In addition, two slim line RC holes have been designed to test beneath anomalous rock chip samples at the Lady Clara and Dickens Custer prospects as well as two AC holes to test geochemical targets about 300 meters west of the Gordons Dam prospect.

Results and follow up exploration plans are expected to be available in the December quarter.

High-priority gold targets

In August the company identified eight new exploration target areas (G1-G8) related to primary conductors to the south-west, north-west and east of known mineralisation at Gordons.

Findings from the SAM survey indicated the presence of an east-dipping mafic rock sequence and structures which have confirmed Yandal’s general interpretation from its March 2019 RC drilling program.

Managing director Lorry Hughes said: “The first pass SAM survey appears to have delineated coincident structural and conductive targets in a number of positions along strike from gold mineralisation intersected in reconnaissance style drilling.

“SAM is a geophysical technique that is well suited to overcome the difficulties of highly conductive surface layers such as those contained in salt lake environments which occur in the Gordans prospect area.”
