The company's VR experiences have enjoyed success at the O2 arena in London

Immotion Group PLC (LON:IMMO) has cited “encouraging” trading from partner sites over the summer as it continued its focus on high footfall locations.

The AIM-listed company, which specialises in ‘out of home’ virtual reality entertainment pods, said over the summer months its aquarium partner sites had performed “particularly strongly” and that there remained considerable interest from potential new partners as well as new developments with existing ones.

Following early success at the O2 arena in London, Immotion said it had deployed five addition headsets at the site, taking the total to 17.

The new addition will feature a five-person car racing set-up where users will be able to compete 'head to head' in the 'Project Cars 2' game, as well as a Roller-Coaster and Underwater Explorer VR experiences and the ‘Raw Data’ shooting experience.

The company, which will announce interim results on 25 September, also said it had extended its relationship with family entertainment centre Austin's Park in Texas.

Immotion had also set up a ‘Tower Coaster’ VR experience at Blackpool Tower, owned by Merlin Entertainments PLC (LON:MERL), and had agreed to further installations across the FTSE 250 firm’s estate, including at LEGOLAND Windsor and the London SeaLife Aquarium.

"Demand for our entertainment and edutainment VR offerings continues to gain momentum. Our unique partnership approach allows facilities to make a pain free decision to enter the Immersive VR space", said Rod Findley, Immotion’s group commercial director.

Martin Higginson, the group’s chief executive, added that on the back of its recent successes it had decided to further scale up its partnership team.

In early trading on Tuesday, Immotion shares were 8.3% higher at 7.2p.
