Phunware Inc (NASDAQ:PHUN) revealed Thursday that it has released a new version of its blockchain-enabled data exchange capabilities which will allow political and advocacy groups to reach targeted audiences in congressional districts across America.
The Austin, Texas-based company provides a multiscreen-as-a-service (MaaS) enterprise cloud platform for mobile devices. The company’s platform has already helped Fortune 5000 brands engage, manage, and monetize their mobile application portfolios.
In a statement, Matthew Lindenberger, the executive vice president of product management and engineering at Phuware said: “We are extremely excited to be releasing the next iteration of our MaaS Data Exchange. These new capabilities and features unlock powerful targeting capabilities for marketers seeking to reach custom audiences.”
Investors responded well, sending Phunware shares nearly 4% higher to $1.58 on the tech-laden Nasdaq Stock Exchange.

Drilling deeper into the benefits of the new features, Lindenberger said: “The combination of congressional district geography boundaries, coupled with device language, gives marketers and advocates the ability to ensure that their message is delivered in the appropriate language to the right mobile audience in the right location at the right time.”
A key feature of the platform release includes the ability to calculate instant device reach counts within specific congressional districts, the company noted.
It added: “Digital marketers and advocates can select from one to many of the 435 congressional districts, add them into a custom audience and then further refine that audience using device language information.”
In May 2019, Phunware extended its multiscreen-as-a-service platform capabilities to allow customers to create unique audiences for real-time targeting and one-to-one interactions.
A month later, it launched its blockchain-enabled data exchange and mobile loyalty ecosystem.
The company said Phunware customers that work with political and advocacy groups are already leveraging the new capabilities for media campaign activities, including VoteMAP.
Phunware said its MaaS Data Exchange product has helped political and advocacy groups "to segment and target their audiences" to meet campaign objectives effectively. There are a number of congressional campaign and state senate case studies which demonstrate how customers have used the company’s solutions to reach their constituents and voters, it added.
