Anson Resources Ltd (ASX:ASN) has produced its first lithium chloride from test work as part of the exploration and development of its flagship Paradox Brine Project in Utah, US.
The lithium chloride sample will be further processed into lithium carbonate and then be sent to potential customers to test its suitability for use in their lithium battery cathodes.
In addition, data obtained from this test work is being utilised to further refine the process flow sheet for the pilot plant that Anson plans to build next year.
Producing up to 20 kilograms of lithium carbonate
The successful production of lithium chloride confirms that the system used by Lilac Solutions is suitable for extracting lithium from brine extracted from the Paradox Basin by Anson.
Lilac’s lithium ion exchange process is part of the process to generate a 20-kilogram sample.
Multiple programs underway at Paradox
An exploration program is also set to commence alongside the test work programs.
Anson most recently revealed that it plans to re-enter the Skyline Unit 1 and Long Canyon Unit 2 wells to sample brine at Paradox.
Anson established its maiden JORC resource by re-entering old oil wells and this program plans to build upon that resource.
