Codebase Ventures Inc (CSE:CODE) (OTCMKTS:BKLLF) told investors that its Pressland subsidiary has tapped digital expert Anthony Duignan-Cabrera to develop the business.
Duignan-Cabrera is behind digital news products that have incorporated diversified revenue streams, including revenue sharing, data licensing and e-commerce and has held roles at AOL's Patch.com, Mozilla, CNN and Bamboo Technologies.

He will become Pressland's business development director and divide his time between Hong Kong and New York City.
Pressland is a data management platform, which is aimed at cultivating public trust in the media by shedding light on the news production process and holding stakeholders accountable.
"To realize Pressland's mission of restoring public trust in media, it's critical to collaborate with publishers and other like-minded media companies," said Jeff Koyen, chief strategy officer at Codebase, in a statement.
"With his connections and expertise, Anthony is uniquely qualified to forge these relationships. In this vitally important role, he will demonstrate to publishers the benefits of licensing their data on our enterprise platform."
Intertwined crises
Duignan-Cabrera added: "The news media is grappling with two life-threatening emergencies — loss of revenue and the erosion of trust in their product."

Codebase Ventures is a Vancouver-based team that invests in the cannabis sector, technology and other emerging industries.
It believes that emerging sectors like these are evolving rapidly, bringing early opportunities for strategic investments.
Shares in the firm added over 11% in Toronto to C$0.050.
