BlueRock Diamonds sells fifth stone for more than US$50,000

The 7.63 carat diamond fetched US$52,000 or US$6,815 per carat and takes the total generated this year from the sale of exceptional stones to over US$500,000.

South African miner BlueRock Diamonds PLC (LON:BRD) has sold a fifth stone from the Kareevlei mine for more than US$50,000.

The 7.63 carat diamond fetched US$52,000 or US$6,815 per carat and takes the total generated this year from the sale of exceptional stones to over US$500,000.

Mike Houston, executive chairman, said: "The continued and improving regularity of discovery of high-quality stones underpins the potential value of the project and the effectiveness of our recent improvements in operational practises.“

In June, BlueRock sold a 24.98 carat diamond for US$196,000 and in July a 12.2 carat stone for US$105,000.
