Yandal Resources drills shallow and near-surface gold intersections in Yandal infill drilling

The Flushing Meadows prospect is within the regionally extensive Barwidgee shear zone and is 60 kilometres southwest of Wiluna, near several gold development projects and operating mines.

Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has obtained further encouraging intersections from drilling shallow depths at the Flushing Meadows gold prospect within its Ironstone Well project in WA.

One-metre assay results from infill reverse circulation drilling have delineated several high-priority target areas down-dip from mineralised holes in the northeast and significant mineralisation was returned on all drill lines.

Numerous drill holes along the 1.9-kilometre-strike length contain substantial mineralisation yet to be tested at depth.

The company has begun modelling its maiden JORC mineral resource as well as starting metallurgical test work.

Highlighted assays

Highlighted assays include:

  • 4 metres at 3.91 g/t gold from 45 metres;
  • 3 metres at 2.53 g/t from 7 metres;
  • 3 metres at 3.04 g/t from 47 metres
  • 4 metres at 2.84 g/t from 67 metres, including 1 metre at 8.94 g/t from 67 metres;
  • 5 metres at 4.99 g/t from 54 metres, including 1 metre at 9.12 g/t from 54 metres; and
  • 6 metres at 3.37 g.t from 48 metres, including 12.66 g/t from 53 metres.

Maiden mineral resource estimate

The assays were taken from a program of 27 angled RC holes going for 2,439 metres which were drilled about 50 metres apart along strike and 40 metres apart down-dip.

Flushing Meadows occurs within the regionally extensive Barwidgee Shear Zone, 60 kilometres southwest of the mining town of Wiluna and close to several gold development projects and operating mines.

Once the mineral resource estimate is complete, drill programs to expand mineralisation envelopes in the immediate Flushing Meadows deposit area and in areas northwest and southeast along strike will begin.

Next steps

Several mine development activities have also begun or are planned to in the coming weeks including:

  • Metallurgical test work on available RC samples at several depth intervals across the known deposit;
  • Flora and fauna surveyed due for completion in August;
  • Preliminary geotechnical and hydrogeological studies;
  • Completion of a pit optimisation
