Canyon Resources drill high-grade bauxite at Minim Martap

Multiple intersections of over 50% aluminium oxide with low silicon dioxide have been drilled from surface at the Sophia Plateau.

Canyon Resources Ltd (ASX:CAY) has received further high-grade, quality results from aircore drilling at the Sophia Plateau within its Minim Martap Bauxite Project in Cameroon.

Highlights include 12 metres at 50.1 aluminium oxide and 1.1% silicon dioxide, 8 metres at 51.3% aluminium oxide and 1.1% silicon dioxide, and 5 metres at 53.7% aluminium oxide and 1.1% silicon dioxide, all from surface.

Given the 50+% high-grade nature of the results, drilling has extended the high-grade bauxite section to the most southern areas of the project.

Furthermore, the results indicate the potential for further high-grade areas in the region.

Canyon’s chief geologist Dr Alexander Shaw said: “The drilling results from the previously untested Makan licence are very pleasing and confirm Canyon’s regional geological model for extensive and new high-grade bauxite resource potential.

“These results further confirm the global Tier 1 status of the Project.”

The Sophia Plateau is within the Makan permit which hosts the second-largest bauxite plateau at the project and presents a priority target for future drilling.

Working towards completing a PFS

Canyon continues to progress a pre-feasibility study (PFS) for the Minim Martap Project.

Throughout the next 12 months, targeted resource drilling will be completed to support the delivery of the PFS.
