Majescor Resources (CVE:MJX) said that the company, along with its partners, have hired a consulting service to manage the exploration program on the Somine copper-gold property, located in the northeast mineral district of Haiti.
Based out of Quito, Ecuador, Buscore Consulting Limited is specialized in the design and management of mineral exploration projects in emerging minerals districts.
The company's task will be to implement an exploration program, as outlined in Majescor's NI 43-101 compliant technical report for the Somine property.
Phase I of this program, estimated at $1.2 million, will comprise of soil and rock chip sampling, ground geophysical IP testing, as well as a 3,500 metre drill core program focused on the historical Douvray and Blondin copper prospects, Majescor said.
The 15 hole drill program will also focus on new targets including the Dos Rada and Ti-Toro copper zones, and the Vein 37 copper-gold prospect, where spot assays returned up to 5.8% copper and up to 71.3 g/t gold. In addition, environmental baseline studies for the project will be initiated.
"One of our main objectives for 2011 remains to identify one or more economic porphyry copper or lode gold deposits on the Somine property," said Majescor president and CEO, Daniel Hachey.
The Somine property lies within the Mesozoic-Cenozoic volcanic-intrusive trend, which hosts the Pueblo Viejo gold-copper mine in the neighbouring Dominican Republic.
According to historical data, Somine is host to a 10 km long by up to 3.8 km wide copper-bearing corridor. The property has a research permit covering 50 square kilometres, valid until March 2020.
Junior explorer Majescor owns the Somine project through its 100% owned subsidiary, SIMACT Alliance Copper Gold Inc., which is the majority shareholder of SOMINE SA, a Haiti company that owns the entire mineral rights to the Somine land.
Aside from Somine, Majescor's project portfolio includes the Mistassini uranium exploration projects in Quebec, and the Besakoa gold and base metal property in Madagascar.
