Golden Predator Corp. (TSE:GPD) said Tuesday that drilling has begun at its Brewery Creek gold project – signalling the start of the company’s aggressive 2011 exploration program in the Yukon.
The Brewery Creek winter drill program, with a minimum of 2,500 metres of oriented core, is intended to expand upon the 2010 discovery made at the Bohemian zone, where the company encountered intercepts including 56.5m of 3.20 g/t gold in core hole BC10-170.
The company said it has also contracted Precision Geosurveys to conduct a helicopter-borne survey across the project, scheduled to begin in March. The aeromagnetic survey will complete more than 400 line km of geophysical profiling, designed to further define drill targets on the Reserve Trend.
Separately, Golden Predator also announced it has appointed Mark Abrams as vice president of exploration in the US, to be based in Reno, Nevada.
Abrams has more than 30 years of mineral exploration experience, including 19 years with Placer Dome, where he held various exploration and management roles, primarily in Nevada and Alaska. Most recently, he was responsible for exploration and acquisitions in the United States for Agnico-Eagle.
Golden Predator has a large Yukon property position with three advanced gold projects, six pipeline prospects and exploration landholdings comprising over 2000 km2.
In 2011, the company expects to complete initial NI 43-101 compliant resources for its Grew Creek and Clear Creek projects in the Yukon, as well as update the existing resource for Brewery Creek.
