Supplierof Microsoft solutions for the supply chain K3 Business Technology Group (LSE: KBT) rejoiced at yesterday’s announcement from Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), which said it was now expanding presence in the retail sector with the acquisition of Dynamics AX retail solution from LS Retail EHF to expand its Dynamics suite of ERP (enterprise resource planning) software.

K3, which is one of the UK’s largest Microsoft Dynamics partners and the largest LS Retail distributor worldwide, said Microsoft’s increasing involvement in the mid-range business software market brought additional opportunities and benefits for the group.

“This is excellent news for K3 and we welcome Microsoft's latest move in the mid-range retail marketplace.  Our retail software division, which is built on LS Retail's Microsoft-based products, has achieved very strong sales growth over the last five years and Microsoft's investment in LS Retail's Dynamics AX solution should support our growth ambitions going forward,” said Chief Executive of K3 Andy Makenham.

K3 added 1.6% on the London Stock Exchange today following the release of the update.
