Australian-mineral explorer Gunson Resources (ASX:GUN) has been granted a trading halt by the ASX, with its shares placed in pre-open.

Gunson requested the halt pending a capital raising and acquisition.

The company's portfolio currently includes mineral sands, copper, nickel and gold-copper.

Just last month Gunson advised that farm-in partner Torrens Mining Limited completed metallurgical tests that suggest that copper can be economically leached from the MG14 and Windabout deposits at Mount Gunson, South Australia.

Torrens is now progressing the project into the Pre-Feasibility Phase, which is expected to take about 3 months to complete.

The halt will remain in place until the opening of trade on Thursday 11th September 2014, or earlier if an announcement is made to the market.
