Mariana Resources (LON:MARL) is set to kick off its first exploration drilling programme at the Condor de Oro project in Northern Peru.
The firm’s plan is to test the Pucayacu target and carry out enough drilling (1,500 metres) to meet its obligations under its option agreement for the project.
It has permission to drill up to 20 holes on three of the twelve concessions that make up the large Condor de Oro project area.
Pucayacu, which spans a two kilometres (km) by 2km area, is thought to be a potentially large gold-copper system.
"We are extremely pleased to be able to finally drill test this large altered intrusive related system which displays strong anomalous surface mineralisation with coincident magnetic lows,” chief executive Glen Parsons said.
“Results over the next few months will be telling for Mariana as we explore this potential company changer."
