Richland Resources (LON:RLD) is to offer its tanzanite directly to customers outside of Africa for the first time through the launch of a new online store, www.tanzaniteoneonline.com.
Bernard Olivier, Richland’s chief executive, said being able to retail tanzanite directly to global consumers means the company is now involved in every step of the route from mine to market.
Not only does that make it unique, he said, but it allows Richland to guarantee the provenance, quality and ethical status of its stones.
Online consumers will be able to buy a range of jewellery and set or unset stones of different qualities, sizes and colours up to around US$5,000 in value.
There will also be 'exceptional' one off pieces and a service to source special gem requests.
The growing consumer trend towards responsibly sourced coloured gemstones and the success of a store in Cape Town earlier in the year, ”gives us the confidence to build new relationships with retail customers," Olivier said.
