Fluorspar focused Tertiary Minerals (LON:TYM) is gearing up for the start of drilling at its MB fluorspar project in Nevada, which has world class potential.

The firm is getting quotes from contractors and the two-phase programme is expected to begin in June or July.

In February this year, the firm said its consultant had estimated that the project hosts between 85 and 105mln tonnes of mineralisation grading between 9 and 11% fluorspar.

The first phase of drilling will be short and aims to evaluate the most cost-effective drilling technique and the holes should provide enough core for preliminary metallurgical testing.

The second phase will aim to define, on the south side of the known deposit, a JORC compliant resource big enough to support planning of a mine-starter pit for up to the first ten years of production, indicate the extent of higher grades in the known deposit and test for an alternative site for the starter pit.

Executive chairman Patrick Cheetham said: "We are looking forward to the start of drilling on the MB Project and advancing this exciting project alongside our more advanced fluorspar projects in Europe."

Tertiary also said it had applied for a drill permit to cover both phases and started to evaluate transport logistics at the site.
