Tim Cornelius, chief executive of Simec Atlantis PLC (LON:SAE) say he is delighted by the recent record-breaking performance of the MeyGen tidal wave power project.
Tidal power has now been de-risked, he tells Proactive, with the next step to scale up at the commercial level.
That will see the number of turbines at MeyGen rise from 4 to up to 40 turbines with Cornelius now looking at ways to supply large industrial power users.
The power -from-waste project at Uskmouth meanwhile has now reached a mini-tender of the conversion system with large scale industrial tests to follow.
Financial close on £200mln of funding to fully convert the project is expected next year.
A restructured deal for the GHR hydro portfolio in Scotland is also likely over the coming weeks, Cornelius adds.
