Sirius Minerals demonstrating ability with offtake deals, says house broker

Paul Smith, analyst at wealth management and brokerage house WH Ireland, offers his view on AIM-listed Sirius Minerals (LON:SXX) – which extended a major offtake agreement today.

An unnamed Fortune 500 company now wants 1.5mln tonnes of fertiliser when the firm’s York Potash Mine opens, and Smith reckons the deal is important when it comes to the next stage of development at the site.

The analyst is also keeping an eye on other small caps, including Diamondcorp (LON:DCP) , Wolf Minerals (LON:WLFE) and says his favourite commodities in the current environment are uranium, diamonds and zinc.

He also likes some of the establish companies with cash flow and paying dividends, such as Pan African Resources (LON:PAF), Highland Gold (LON:HGM), Caledonia Mining (LON:CMCL).
