Energy Fuels emerging as the major US uranium player

Published: 14:53 28 Jul 2015 BST

Curtis Moore, vice president of Energy Fuels (TSE:EFR) (NYSE:UUUU), says the company is emerging as the major uranium producer in the United States after its acquisition of Uranerz earlier this year.

Energy Fuels operates the only conventional uranium mill in the US, while Uranerz extracts uranium from sandstone uranium deposits in the Powder River Basin area of Wyoming.

Low uranium prices have made life difficult for both firms, but Moore says the tie-up will result in significant cost savings and synergies.

He also discusses Energy Fuel’s addition to the Russell 3000 index, meaning it’s one of the 3,000 largest listed companies based on market capitalisation in the US and appears in the Russell 2000 index, which measures the performance of the small-cap segment of the US equity universe.
