EQTEC signs Strategic Alliance Agreement with COBRA

- EQTEC this morning announces that it has signed a Strategic Alliance Agreement with Cobra Instalaciones Y Servicios SA (“COBRA”), a worldwide leader in developing, building and operating infrastructure projects. The Agreement will identify and collaborate on waste-to-energy projects in order to utilise the Company's proprietary EQTEC Gasifier Technology ("EGT"). COBRA has an extensive track record of successfully delivering projects in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.
- EGT has been developed over 20 years and has over 70,000 operating hours on commercial projects. Under the terms of the Agreement, COBRA will be the engineering, procurement and construction ("EPC") Contractor for the whole power plant of the Projects and will exclusively use EGT for the gasification and gas cleaning process.
- The signing of the Agreement follows extensive technical due diligence carried out on EGT over the last few months, which confirmed EGT's ability to outperform comparative technologies. Confidence in these performance, costs and efficiency projections has prompted both companies to commit resources to jointly construct and operate large scale commercial waste-to-energy projects.
- EQTEC and COBRA will review each new opportunity identified on a project-by-project basis to assess the best use of EGT, which could include electricity generation, heat supply and/or Combined Cooling, Heat and Power ("CCHP"). If required, COBRA will also seek to attract external financing resources to develop and implement the Projects. EQTEC and COBRA are currently identifying opportunities in UK and the Company will update shareholders in due course.

From Yesterday: Rukwa Coal Mine update

- On 23/02/18 the Tanzanian Deputy Minister of Minerals, Mr Doto Biteko, visited the Rukwa Coal Project. The principal purpose of the visit was to inspect the mine and plant, along with assessing the impact that the Project has had on the local population and to hear the views of the workforce and local people.
The visit from the Tanzanian Deputy Minister of Minerals to the Rukwa Coal Mine is a positive sign of engagement from the Government that the Company believes underpins both the Tanzanian Government's commitment to the Project and the progress the Company has made in moving from an explorer to producer in under a year. The Company also highlighted that the Government representative was encouraged to see that Edenville had carried through on its plan to start the Project and indicated that Edenville was the type of investors that Tanzania wanted to attract to further grow the local resources industry.

Update on Woodside Joint Venture

- Petrel Resources has received Government approval of a 10% interest in Licensing Option 16/14, which is currently being operated by Woodside Energy.
- Licensing Option 16/14 covers 1,579km2 and is located around 150km southwest of Ireland. The Option covers Blocks 54/11, 54/12, 54/13, 54/16, 54/17 and 54/18.
- Woodside has applied to covert the Option into a full Frontier Exploration License.
Positive news for Petrel Resources with Government approval of its 10% interest now approved, and the application for the Frontier Exploration Licence now submitted. The Partners already have extensive 3D state-of-the-art seismic data set for the area and it has been processed by Down Under GeoSolutions. The final products of this interpretation are due to be delivered to Woodside shortly.

- Alexander Mining has been awarded a patent in Zambia for a Method of Leaching Cobalt from Oxidised Cobalt Ores, patent number AP 4394. The patent is valid for 20 years from 06/08/10.
Alexander Mining continues to protect its IP. The technology described in this patent is for the extraction of cobalt from oxide or non-sulphide deposits. As Alexander Mining continues its appends to commercialise its technology, Cobalt has become a core target metal because of its importance in lithium ion batteries.

£1.1 million Innovate UK grant award

- Genedrive PLC has been awarded £1.1 million by Innovate UK (subject to standard approvals).
- The grant will fund development of a bacterial sample preparation module for the Company’s Genedrive® mTB/RIF platform, which is currently in the development stage. The mTB/RIF platform is a point-of-care tool which tests for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative agent of tuberculosis (TB).
- Specifically, the funding will support the development of a more streamlined workflow for the mTB/RIF platform with the goal of increasing sensitivity of the assay and reducing manufacturing costs.
- The programme is anticipated to run for a one year period, after which the sample preparation solution will require formal performance and clinical validation.
The Innovate UK award demonstrates the ability of the Company to win competitive grant funding, highlighting the potential value of its mTB/RIF platform. TB is an urgent public health issue; over 10.4 million people were infected by TB in 2015 with c.1.8 million deaths. The development of the mTB/RIF platform shows genedrive has a healthy product pipeline. The Company launched its Genedrive® HCV ID Kit, for testing Hepatitis C, at the beginning of 2018.
