FROM THE BROKING DESK
RFC Ambrian will be hosting an Investor Seminar on Future Mobility Metals on the morning of 5 October at our London office. As the future of the automobile industry seems to have arrived a lot quicker than many people thought, much will now depend on how the mining community feeds the demand for mobility metals, along with how quickly engineers can develop battery and electric motor technology.
We’ve put together an exceptionally interesting morning. During this we’ll introduce mining companies that are developing projects that will help meet demand from the automobile industry, as well as specialist analytics and engineering companies that will explain how the market is moving forward and what technologies are being developed.
Company presentations will showcase European Metals, Europe’s largest lithium project, and Peak Resources††, Africa’s largest Nd/Pr project. We will also have a presentation on the outlook for autonomous vehicles from Canalys, a specialist consultancy group, and a presentation from the Technical Director of the Advanced Engineering Department of the Williams Formula 1 team, who’ll talk us through some of the ‘outer limits’ of the developments in electric and hybrid drivetrains.
Williams Grand Prix Engineering is one of the leading Formula 1 Grand Prix teams. Its subsidiary Williams Advanced Engineering provides world-class technical innovation, engineering, testing and manufacturing services to the wider OEM automotive sector, as well as in motorsport and elsewhere. It’s one of the most prominent technology companies in the UK that’s at the forefront of the engineering challenges of the 21st Century, with expertise in electrification, aero and thermodynamics, advanced lightweight materials and vehicle integration. Senior Technical Director Paul McNamara will be speaking.
Canalys is a leading global technology market analysis firm, with operations in the UK, California and Singapore. It provides vendors with unique insight and intelligence through analysis services and custom research across the technology spectrum. Canalys has undertaken research into the advent of autonomous vehicle deployment and the current strategy of OEMs (ie, how and when they will affect the market). Co-founder and Chief Analyst Chris Jones will present.
European Metals (LON:EMH) is an AIM- and ASX-listed exploration and development company advancing the Cinovec deposit on the Czech/German border. Cinovec is Europe’s largest lithium resource and the fourth largest non-brine lithium resource globally; it could potentially be the lowest-cost hard rock producer in the world. CEO Keith Coughlan will be presenting.
Peak Resources (ASX:PEK) is an ASX-listed exploration and development company developing the Ngualla Rare Earth Project in Tanzania. Ngualla is one of the world’s largest undeveloped neodymium and praseodymium (Nd/Pr) projects in the world. These metals are vital components of the permanent magnets used in traction motors for electric vehicles and wind turbines. The company is working towards building a rare earth refinery in the Tees Valley in the north-east UK. Prior to joining Peak, COO Rocky Smith was MD of the Mountain Pass operations, the US’ largest rare earth production facility.
Other companies and speakers could still be added. The seminar will kick off at 8:45am and run to midday. We will circulate a final schedule later. Places are strictly limited, so please reply to this e-mail or let your RFC Ambrian contact know if you’d like to attend as soon as possible. We hope that you will be able to join us.
