MARKETS
Well, they continue to be what I can only describe as mellow. Bit up, bit down, smoking a bit of weed..
Anyone remember "Mellow Birds will make you smile?"
That had to be the worse instant coffee ever surely?
Though not as bad as the "great smell of Brut". (Some bloke sprayed himself all over with some horrible anti perspirant this morning. he can't possibly have a partner going home smelling like that. I nearly choked.)
Hang on, I'm obviously in a tangent mode or going senile. What am I talking about, oh yes, markets. Yes, very mellow.
Like, they don't seem sure about what to do so they are like a teenager hanging around outside the chip shop. Suits me fine as I'm not a volatility fan.
I have made a trade or two, so let's have a look at those then boys and girls. Well, mainly boys I suspect, girls are too clever to lose money gambling...
After flogging off Van Elle (VANL) last time for a loss I saw they had drifted down quite a bit which tempted me back in for attempt number 2. (I only ever try three goes on one share then I am done!)
VANL now really looks pretty cheap at these lower levels so tucked some away in the ISA.
If they only rise back up to 140p then there is a decent percentage to be had and that is my target.
I love Greencore (LON:GNC)! I made more than £50 grand on these personally back in 2013 and nearly £20 grand for the website.
This ready meal outfit was a fan buy then as the horsemeat scandal drove them down and I took advantage.
They now look re ally cheap again. Forecast profits are expected to leap up and over £150m next year after a massive acqusition.
I also loved Dialight (LON:DIA) ages ago - bought for 150p and sold for 1200p making well over £100,000. I actually still have a few from the old days left over in the isa..
I am back in with Dialight as they are moving up every day after some decent statements. Results are due on February 27th and could show a company on the way back to its old highs.
Its recent trading statement was excellent, revenues are coming in again and it seems to be back in a good spot with its LED lighting business. So after a flashbulb moment I am in!
I have also bought a new one - Ascential (LON:ASCL). the markets really seem to like its acquistion of Medialink.
That gives ASCL a big presence in the USA and should help grow the business over there. It is in the process of flogging off a load of magazines which seems pretty sensible. All in all looks a decent isa tucksway.
And I added some more Sopheon (LON:SPE).
Already going very nicely since I bought the first lot there seems to be more interest in it now after it said it expected profits to be "significantly" ahead.
One magazine claimed it could even double from here which seems a bit rich to me, but perhaps at least 500p from here is possible. Maybe more.
I also bought some Netplay (LON:NPT) last week thinking it looked cheap - also a trading statement was due soon which I thought might push up the price and good chance of a bid.
So I was delighted to wake up to a headline there was a bid and eagerly looked hoping for maybe 12p giving me 40%. Then I was so disappointed - 9p! 9p!!! Only just above where I bought. Gutted!
Anyway I am still holding onto them just in case of a rival bid. You never know. I still think 12p looks nearer the mark.
