Symantec (NASDAQ:SYMC), the maker of cyber security software, was rated "buy" in new coverage at Guggenheim on Thursday, which points to the company's acquisition of Blue Coat Systems as a deal which could reignite growth for years to come.
Symantec shares ended up 1.2% at $24.87 on Thursday.
Goldman Sachs upgraded Global Payments (NYSE:GPN), the payment technology services company to "buy" from "neutral" on a variety of factors that point to strong revenue growth on Thursday.
Global Payments shares ended up 3.4% at $76.05.
AMC Networks (NASDAQ:AMCX), the cable network operator, was downgraded by brokers at Stifel Nicolaus to "hold" from "buy," noting a "material weakness" in ratings and that it expects that trend to continue.
AMC shares ended down 2.8% at $50.53.
Dick's Sporting Goods (NYSE:DKS), the sporting goods retailer was upgraded by brokers at Oppenheimer to "outperform" from "perform," saying Dick's can capitalise on "freed-up market share" following the bankruptcy of Sports Authority, Sports Chalet, and Golfsmith.
Dick’s Sporting shares ended up 2.9% at $60.36.
