Credit Suisse was bullish about the prospects of airline Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE:ALK) as it upgraded the stock to an ‘outperform’ rating from ‘neutral’ and bumped up its price target to US$85 from US$70.
Alaska Airlines recently announced a “significant expansion to the New York City area”, where it will add four more flights and three new routes at Newark Liberty International airport.
The airline stands to win even more market share once its acquisition of Virgin America Inc (NASDAQ:VA), announced back in April, is complete.
Whole Foods Market, Inc. (NASDAQ:WFM) also got the backing of the brokers on Monday.
Macquarie moved the stock to an ‘outperform’ rating from ‘neutral’, while SunTrust raised its stock price target for the supermarket chain by US$2 to US$38.
Macquarie said in a note today that it expects Whole Foods to deliver strong results over the next six to twelve months, adding that “Whole Foods remains a best-in-class operator with an iconic brand and a management team that has proven successful over long periods of time.”
Online retail giant Amzon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has had its target price raised by Wedbush Securities to US$835 from US$775.
Analysts at the financial services group said Amazon could be “poised to deliver substantial earnings growth” with Prime membership continuing to grow “unabated”.
However, Wedbush did add that the ecommerce specialist would likely increase annual spending on its video content by around US$500mln per year, which would offset some of those improvements.
Elsewhere, information technology specialist HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) was upgraded to ‘buy’ from ‘neutral’ at Citigroup.
Media stalwart 21st Century Fox (NASDAQ:FOXA) had its price target trimmed by Credit Suisse to US$38 from US$40.
And home appliance manufacturer Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE:WHR) was downgraded to a ‘market perform’ rating from ‘strong buy’ at Raymond James.
