Aminex (LON:AEX) – Transaction Provides Autonomy: Today's news may well create some headwinds for the Company, as it is clear that there may well have been a disconnect between how close the market though the asset was to cash break even and the reality suggested here. Against that, however, is the knowledge that the Company's future appears more certain and with the debt focus continuing, the future is becoming more about what the management does and less about what its creditors allow it to do.

Aminex – Transaction Provides Autonomy

Today's news that the Company has farmed out an interest in Ruvuma is in some ways disappointing, but in others a tacit admission that all might not be as rosy as we once believed it to be at the asset. We have said previously that:

  • In the current environment cash is king, and given the opportunities that are presenting themselves in the market currently, we believe that the cash flow that comes from the Kiliwani development will be able to be better deployed than they would have 12 to 18 months ago.

Kiliwani was originally supposed to be online and producing cash flow by now, but there appears to be a hiatus and we are still not certain what it is. Nonetheless, what this transaction has achieved for the Company is the opportunity to dust themselves off and start again, and start to look forwards with more optimism and a greater measure of control over their destiny.
