BATM Advanced profit to beat market forecasts after sale of fibre-optic consortium stake

"We are pleased that this transaction has been successfully concluded and that we have generated additional value from this legacy asset," said chief executive Dr Zvi Marom.

BATM Advanced Communications Limited (LON:BVC) expects profit to beat market forecasts after completing the sale of its stake in a fibre-optic consortium building a network in Israel to Cellcom Israel Ltd.

BATM has received NIS12mln (US$3.4mln) for its rights in Israel Electric Corp.

The group now expects reported profit before tax for 2019 financial year to be in the region of US$6.2mln, ahead of market estimates. The underlying trading of BATM remains in-line with current market expectations, it added.

"We are pleased that this transaction has been successfully concluded and that we have generated additional value from this legacy asset," said chief executive Dr Zvi Marom.

"These proceeds will support our networking and medical activities as we continue to focus on delivering best-in-class solutions targeting network functions virtualisation and diagnostics applications."

Shares edged up 1.8% to 44p in afternoon trading.
