Genel Energy PLC (LON:GENL) in an update highlighted that its 25% owned Tawke field remains the largest independent oil firm operated field in Kurdistan, with production averaging 71,700 barrels of oil per day in the first half of 2019.
Three new wells were added to the field during the six month period, it added.

The company noted that a fourth drilling rig has been added to its thirteen well campaign through the second half of the year. It will include a deep well to test the Jurassic potential at Tawke.
The field’s cumulative production amounted to 268mln barrels at the end of the first half.
Genel said that progress is being made at the Peshkabir-to-Tawke gas project which will be Kurdistan’s first ever enhanced oil recovery project in Kurdistan.
At the Peshkabir field, which is now the second largest independent operated field in Kurdistan, production averaged 55,000 bopd in the first half. Two new production wells were brought onstream.
More new wells are either being drilled or are scheduled for the second half.
Peshkabir’s cumulative production totalled at 21mln barrels at the end of the first half.
