Sample results from Kitano-o graded up to 60.8 grams per ton (g/t) gold from the eastern side of the property, in a historical gold district in Japan.
Of the 75 rock chip samples collected at Kitano-o, 16 returned assay results that graded higher than 2.5 grams per ton. Grades of up to 89.6 grams per ton silver were also reported.
The Vancouver-based explorer told shareholders it is planning to begin gravity and geophysical surveys on the prospect to help define more drill targets.
According to Japan Gold, outcropping at Kitano-o implies that the epithermal system on the property is preserved
The company is targeting zones where it believes most of the gold resides, the firm added.
The Kitano-o prospect is a large swath of land that houses six historic gold mines which produced over 96,000 ounces of gold averaging a grade of 5.9 grams per ton
Japan Gold is currently drill testing similar targets across the central and west areas of the Kitano-o property with a 3,000 metre program that commenced last week.
Shares of Japan Gold eased 1.7% on Monday afternoon to C$0.30.
