West Wits Mining Limited (ASX:WWI) has completed a desktop review of its Mt Cecelia project in WA’s Paterson Province which highlighted relatively shallow cover and included Vines Fault as a likely focus for exploration.
The study indicated the presence of the Yeneena Group, reported host of mineralisation at Rio Tinto Limited's (ASX:RIO) recent Winu copper-gold discovery.
It also shows the vanadiferous north-trending mafic dyke sequence mapped by Rumble Resources Ltd (ASX:RTE) at the Braeside project immediately to the south.
West Wits chairman Michael Quinert said: “This initial review has identified an exploration opportunity in the northeast portion of the Mt Cecelia project, which adjoins Rio’s application and includes the Vines Fault.

“This area has only recently become accessible when the FNA proponent agreed to exercise part of its encroachment area which has extended the available exploration area by 1,350 hectares.
“The Mt Cecelia tenement was pegged prior to the recent ramp-up of activity in the region, which has highlighted the project’s prospectivity.
“The company is keen to advance the project plan with the recent granting of the exploration licence and completion of the desktop study.”

The company plans to undertake a detailed magnetic and radiometric survey of the licence area which will then be used to assess the following potential targets:
- The prospectivity for sediment-hosted copper mineralisation at the Coolbro SST and Broadhurst FM contact (WINU);
- The Broadhurst formation for carbonate replacement base metal mineralisation in nifty-like settings;
- The potential for near-surface anticlinal dome structure of the Malu Quartzite for Telfer type mineralisation; and
- To assess the structure and stratigraphy of the paeloproterozoic forestcure group rocks west of the vines fault to look for potential conglomerate gold horizons.
The company intends to enter into an access agreement with the proponents of the solar and wind farm project on the outstanding 5% encroachment, which sits in the northwest section of the tenement area.
