James Fisher lands £30mln of renewable energy business

James Fisher and Sons Plc (LON:FSJ) has revealed a number of new contract wins worth £30mln in the offshore renewable energy sector.

The offshore services group won a contract for marine coordination and communication in the Moray East area, while it also landed a contract for unexploded ordinance work and boulder clearance.

Similarly, in Taiwan, it has been awarded an initial contract for unexploded ordinance and survey work along with structural monitoring. EDS, Fisher’s high voltage engineering specialist, also secured consultancy work in the country.

Back in the UK, the company highlighted continuing progress at the East Anglia One windfarm development, and, a phase two contract has now been inked for unexploded ordinance work and boulder clearance, plus the decommissioning of a weather monitoring tower.

The EDS unit meanwhile secured a 15-year operations and maintenance contract for offshore transmission assets at Greater Gabbard in Suffolk.

Additionally, the company also noted that it has acquired the Raleigh Fisher vessel, a 35,000 tonne tanker, for its Tankships division. The vessel was bought for £9mln.

Raleigh Fisher is presently contracted to the Ministry of Defence to support the Royal Navy's fuelling needs, this is on a five year deal. Nick Henry highlighted that it is significant for the tanker business.

The company noted that its interim financial results will be released on August 28.
