Legend Mining eyes the next Fraser Range discovery at Proactive’s CEO Sessions

Recent aircore drilling results will be used to plan future reverse circulation and diamond drilling.

Legend Mining Ltd (ASX:LEG) is exploring multiple prospects for nickel-copper, copper-zinc-silver, and gold deposits at its Rockford Project in the Fraser Range region of Western Australia.

The vast 2,379 square kilometre Rockford Project is split into two key target areas, Area D and Rockford South.

Exploration at Area D has identified 17 targets labelled D1-D17 and three prospects have been identified at Rockford South being Shackleton, Crean, and Worsley.

Earlier this month, Legend received assay results from 12 infill aircore drill holes drilled at the Worsley Prospect.

Results feature 28 metres at 0.17% zinc and 1.37 g/t silver from 40 metres including 4 metres at 0.71% zinc, 1.71 g/t silver, 0.11% nickel and 0.09% cobalt.

Legend believes these early results are indicative of a volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) system.

Worsley is Legend’s best VMS prospect

Legend’s managing director Mark Wilson said: “These results have elevated Worsley to Legend’s best VMS prospect at our Rockford project.

“Independence Group have previously highlighted the VMS potential in the region with their Andromeda discovery in July 2018.

“The mineralised footprint we have identified is in the vicinity of the top of the modelled conductor which is a further positive feature.

“We will need to do more of our innovative EM surveys to better model the conductor as the current 500-metre line spaced work is insufficient to properly design diamond drill testing.

“This EM work will be commissioned as a priority and will be done in conjunction with the EM work required at the nearby Crean prospect.”

Proactive caught up with the company early May 2019 to discuss Worsley and the nearby Crean prospect.

In mid-May 2019, Legend received results from the first 27 aircore holes drilled at Area D within the Rockford Project.

Highlights included 12 metres at 0.09% nickel, 0.18% copper, 0.02% cobalt from 64 metres and 8 metres at 0.15% nickel, 0.18% copper, 0.02% cobalt from 44 metres.

The ultimate aim of the aircore drilling is to identify favourable nickel-copper host rocks with associated anomalous nickel-copper.

Wilson will present at the Proactive CEO Session in Sydney on Monday, July 15, and the following day in Melbourne.

Other companies presenting in Sydney are Cardinal Resources Ltd (ASX:CDV), Predictive Discovery Ltd (ASX:PDI) and Vango Mining Ltd (ASX:VAN).
