Carnarvon Petroleum Ltd (ASX:CVN) and its partner Santos Ltd (ASX:STO) have drilled down to 2,710 metres at their Roc South-1 exploration well within permit WA-437-P.
As the hole gets deeper, the drill casings get smaller, the 12-1/4" hole section plans to drill down to 4,130 metres before the smaller 9-5/8” casing will need to be used.
The well is exploring for hydrocarbons in the Caley, Baxter, Crespin and Milne Members of the Lower Keraudren Formation.

Carnarvon and Santos recently made a major discovery at the Dorado-2 well located in the same WA-437-P permit.
Shares in Carnarvon are trading up around 40% in the past month, last priced at 57 cents.
