Great Boulder Resources appoints Andrew Paterson as managing director

A new exploration tenement located south along strike from the Winchester prospect was recently granted for an initial five-year term.

Great Boulder Resources Ltd (ASX:GBR) has appointed Andrew Paterson as managing director and he will begin in this role on June 24, 2019.

Paterson is currently chief geological officer and a director of Kingston Resources which is developing the Misima Silver-Gold Project on Misima Island in Papua New Guinea.

He has more than 25 years’ experience in mining and exploration in Australia and PNG and is well credentialed to lead the company into the future with a career spanning gold, nickel, iron ore and lithium sectors.

Paterson said: “I’m excited about this opportunity and look forward to leading Great Boulder into a bright future.

“I can see that the board is passionate about the company’s success and we have some impressive geological firepower behind us.

“With that level of enthusiasm and experience in the team, I’m confident we can build on the company’s earlier work and deliver exploration success.”

Great Boulder chairman Greg Hall, who will continue to act as interim chief executive officer until June 24, welcomed Paterson to the team and looks forward to working with him.

Last month the company intersected strong nickel-copper-PGE anomalism, highlighting the growing potential of the Winchester JV in WA’s Yamarna region.

Great Boulder’s aircore drilling program extended known anomalism to more than 25 kilometres and this includes grades of up to 1.1% copper, 0.7% nickel and 0.04% cobalt.

This has resulted in the company meeting the first milestone in the Winchester JV with Ausgold Ltd (ASX:AUC), thereby earning 51% of the project.
