WH Smith PLC (LON:SMWH) is still considered the worst retailer in the UK due to poor value for money, customer service and in-store experience, according to a nationwide survey.
In a Which? survey on high street shops, just 50% of respondents were happy with WH Smith stores. It topped the same survey last year.

Consumers described WH Smith stores as “cramped, messy and dirty” with “unhelpful staff”.
Homebase/Bunnings was ranked as the second worst retailer with just 53% of survey respondents satisfied with the stores. Shoppers said it was “hard to find anything on overcrowded shelves” and “difficult to find staff for guidance”.
Sports Direct International PLC (LON:SPD) was third with a customer score of 54%. Survey respondents said stores had a “very oppressive atmosphere”.
On the other end of the scale, Richer Sounds had a top score of 89% with consumers saying it had “stellar” customer service and in-store experience.
Rohan was next with 87% followed by John Lewis with 86%.
