Hawkstone is continuing to build momentum towards the expected completion of the maiden JORC compliant resource at Big Sandy

Hawkstone Mining Ltd (ASX:HWK) has outlined extensions up to 800 metres north of primary lithium mineralisation in a second-phase diamond drill program at its Big Sandy Lithium-Clay Project in Arizona, USA.

Assay results have been received from five additional diamond drill (DD) holes and results are pending from a further two.

Last year the company successfully identified a clay-hosted lithium mineralised zone measuring 3,000 by 1,000 metres in the first phase of its DD program.

The current 37-hole, second-phase program started in mid-February to test the lateral extent of clay-hosted lithium mineralisation within the northern mineralised zone.

Three of holes drilled constitute part of the second-phase program aiming to estimate a JORC-compliant resource in the project’s northern mineralised zones.

These holes lie on the most northern line and demonstrate the excellent continuity of the northern mineralised zone and its potential for northern and western extensions to the known mineralisation.

A bottom cut-off grade of 1,000ppm lithium was used in the calculation of intersections and a bottom cut-off grade of 2,000ppm lithium was used in the calculation of higher-grade internal intervals.

All holes were drilled vertical and drilling was completed using HQ DD equipment producing a core with a diameter of 63.5mm.

Geological logging and sampling are ongoing with assays being sent to the laboratory on a hole-by-hole basis.

The drill rig has now moved to complete the northern dill line before moving onto the program’s remaining holes.
